In the swimming pool in Mandal, Lindesnes Municipality wants to measure displacements in the roof due to wind and other loads. Here, Smart Sensor Systems has supplied four sensors and the iBridge smart sensor-based system, which has now been installed by the municipality itself.
– In the swimming pool, corrosion has been discovered in the welding plates between the concrete elements. We want to check for any movements in the roof structure that could occur at high wind speeds, and other impacts in the 37-year-old building, says technician in technical operations in Lindesnes municipality, Jan Kåre Eigebrekk.
– We have installed sensors from Smart Sensor Systems ourselves in four places on the ceiling that we have calculated as the most critical. The sensors seem stable in operation, stand still and it looks like they could work well for the purpose. We have also installed manual crossings in addition, but the sensors give us extra security, and we also enter limit values for movements that will trigger a notification and alarm via the Smart Sensor Systems system, says technician Eigebrekk.
Got tips from Grimstad swimming pool
– In the swimming pool in Grimstad municipality, Smart Sensor Systems has delivered sensors and measuring equipment for the roof, mostly to measure snow and load, and we received tips from them about this possibility, he says.
– We also searched online and decided that we wanted to try Smart Sensor Systems' products, says Jan Kåre.
– For us, it is important to have this type of measurement for safety in a hall where we have thousands of visitors during the year. Here we have two pools and a wellness area. The large pool has a 1-meter diving board and diving towers with 3 and 5 meters, and 6 swimming lanes with Olympic starting platforms, with many present during competitions. It is clear that safety here is important, clarifies Jan Kåre Eigebrekk in Lindesnes municipality.
